PROCEDURE
Procedure text is defined as a text that tell us to do something in steps. The text is used to describe how something is done through a sequence of actions or steps. Therefore to comprehend procedure text, the three elements should be attention. The three elements are shown below :
The Generic Structure of the text, as follows:
- Purpose
- Source
- Methods
source : source are not required for all Procedure text
The features of Procedure language:
• simple present : imperative: for example, cut, pour, don’t mix, etc
• action verbs : turn, put, don’t, mix,
• connectors : then, while,
• adverbials : for five minutes, first, second,etc
Example:
Sesame Drop Biscuits
Materials:
a. 2 cups flour
b. 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
c. ½ teaspoon each baking soda and salt
d. Butter or margarine
e. 2 tablespoons sesame seed
f. 1 cup buttermilk Night Before:
g. In a large bowl stir together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
h. With 2 knives or pastry blender cut in ½ cup butter until particles are fine .
i. Stir in sesame seed. Next Morning:
j. Add buttermilk to flour mixture and stir with a fork just until mixed.
k. Drop by tablespoons on greased cookies sheet.
l. Bake in preheated 450 degrees oven until light brown. 12 to 14 minutes.
m. Serve at once with butter.
